Prenatal Posture Therapy

Every Tuesday starting February 4th, 2020

11:00-12:00 PM at the Yoga Center of Steamboat

Pregnancy is a time of massive change in a woman's body. Growing a baby is truly a magnificent feat of athleticism and stamina. This makes it an ideal time to train the body for more functional movement and optimal alignment as the body is preparing for the ultimate event: childbirth.

Posture therapy exercises are designed to reposition the pelvis for better mobility and a safer fetal position. Properly supported postural alignment decreases discomfort in all three trimesters and increases the likelihood of a natural childbirth. This class is also designed to help pregnant women relax and connect with the unique experience of pregnancy. All trimesters welcome.

Emotional Boundaries for the Empath

Feeling tired, overwhelmed, or burned out? Carrying others' emotional suffering could be zapping your vitality. Recover your energy by letting go of pain that is not yours.


The first step in emotional healing is awareness of our emotions. This awareness allows us to fully feel the emotion, recognize its role in our life, and then to release it with love and understanding.


But what if the emotion you are feeling is not yours? Sometimes, we pick up on the feelings of other people in our life and hold onto it as if it were our own. We wonder why we are unable to feel better and end up feeling helpless. The problem is that we cannot "fix" an issue that belongs to someone else.


What we can do is send it away with love and compassion, knowing that releasing that pain is helpful for us and the world around us. In fact, we are better able to help when we are able to recognize what is ours and what is not ours.

Awareness of Emotions to Release Them

Most of our emotional habits are formed by the time we are age seven. Those first experiences in our life, from the womb to our parents' embrace to our first steps in school, all have a role in shaping our beliefs about the world. Our childhood experiences, while sometimes seemingly small and insignificant in nature, shaped the very lens through which we view the world.

In adulthood, we may intellectually reject those beliefs, but the emotional seed may remain. This means we go through great effort to wipe our lens clean, only for the cloudiness to return because the child in us is hurting.

These emotional sores from childhood remain unless we recognize them and rewire our brains for healthier reactions. One way to do so is through emotional release work. It allows us to soothe and love the child within so that the wisdom of adulthood can take the reins. We learn to apply understanding and empathy towards the principle actors of our childhood, like our parents, and in doing so learn to love ourselves. But we must feel the emotions first in order to release them and to reach this place of understanding.

Join me for this transformative class to learn how to tap into your emotions using bodily signals and mind-body-spirit techniques, including emotional freedom technique, whole body intelligence, and neuro emotional technique. You'll see firsthand how our brains can be rewired in a matter of minutes with awareness and intention.

Posture Therapy for Pain Relief

Every Thursday starting December 5th, 2019

11:00-12:00 PM at the Yoga Center of Steamboat

Learn gentle exercises that realign your body naturally without the use of physical interventions, like braces or straps. By doing a menu of targeted exercises, you'll retrain your body to hold itself in its most functional position, relieving stress on your joints and muscles to live a more pain free life.


This class focuses on outer physical alignment but inner alignment strategies will be integrated because of the clear connection between emotional stress and pain. In all ways, we want to release tension, find more fluidity, and embrace more FUNctional ways of moving and being.​

Pain Free Holidays

The holiday season is a time of reflection, celebration, and community. But it can also be a time of physical and emotional stress. With all of our efforts to prepare meals and treats, put together gifts, and attend gatherings, our shoulders can wind up next to our ears!


Join me for 90 minutes of posture therapy, relaxation, and emotional freedom technique to release some tension and get back to your joy this season.


All participants will receive PDFs of the exercises via email to continue a daily practice to stay pain free.

Posture Therapy for Vitality

The theme of at the Yoga Center this week is the yogi principle Brahmacharya, which is the conservation and direction of vital energy. It is neither the excess nor repression of energy, but rather a place of balance in which healing and positive energetic flow can take place.


When our bodies are out of alignment, either physically or energetically, we expend more energy than necessary to accomplish our everyday goals. It's also more difficult to enjoy oneself in recreation. Perhaps once you could hike for hours without pain or heavy fatigue, but now it zaps your innate vital force.


Posture Therapy for Vitality will focus on the pelvis, which is known in posture therapy as the driver of movement. If the pelvis is tilted or twisted (think uneven hips or one leg resting forward of the other), movement becomes more difficult, perhaps more painful over time, and certainly more energetically draining. The pelvis is built to move in all directions! When is the last time you could sit in a squat, swing your hips like a hula dancer, or climb the stairs like a crab? Our bodies were designed to keep these movement capabilities for life.


In this workshop, you will learn daily, gentle exercises that retrain the body to move more functionally (i.e in alignment), which conserves energy and reduces pain in all parts of your body. All participants will receive PDFs of the exercises upon completion of the workshop to maintain a daily practice until the next workshop offering.

The InBody Experience

A total mind-body experience that will guide you to inner and outer alignment for reduced pain, greater strength, and more ease.

The class starts with posture therapy exercises designed to realign your bones through the motion and release of muscles. Once better alignment is achieved, higher energy music will get your heart rate up SAFELY without compromising postural alignment. The class will end with a brief guided meditation to bring your focus inward- into your heart and out of your head- to truly become InBody. ​
